CHINA SUMMER CAMP 2008

Adoption Associates, Inc., has placed children from China into loving adoptive homes since 1994 and is now
partnering with China Center of Adoption Affairs (CCAA) to provide a memorable summer camp program from
October 20 to October 24, 2008. This pioneer program called China Camp, will include a group of thirty, older,
special needs or healthy children, ages seven to thirteen. These children, residing in various orphanages throughout China, will attend a five day summer camp in Beijing, organized by CCAA. At the conclusion of the camp, AAI will have the privilege of advocating for these children by finding adoptive homes for them. We are pleased to extend an invitation for volunteers, referred to as Special Advocates, to join us in this endeavor.
The children’s lives will be enriched by experiencing life outside of the orphanage and touring historical Chinese
sites. They will also engage in group activities with the Special Advocates. This is an opportunity for the agency,
volunteers, and contributors to reach out to individual children who have been left behind. Being present with
the children in China will allow us to gain insight into each of the children’s personalities throughout the week
which will provide us invaluable information to relay to potential adoptive families upon our return. We are
grateful to CCAA for this unique opportunity. Volunteers are needed to assist staff in spending time getting
to know the children and participate with them in camp activities.

PROGRAM SPECIFICS
Adoption Associates is recruiting up to 10-15 volunteers who will assume the role of a Special Advocate. The Special Advocates may include single adults or married couples throughout the United States. This also offers an opportunity for married couples considering adopting, to interact with an older child. Special Advocates will be financially responsible for the their own international flights, visas, passports, lodging, and meal expenses; which totals approximately $2,800. The Special Advocates will depart from the U.S. on October 18, 2008. A post trip extension is available at an additional expense to tour China or visit a particular province or orphanage. Special Advocates are required to submit a China Camp application, child abuse clearance, and a criminal background clearance. Please join our efforts in providing an opportunity for older children to become adopted.

MISSION
China Camp offers a tangible way to reach out to older, healthy or special needs Chinese orphans in an effort to
find each child a forever family. The camp will minister to the emotional and educational needs of these children
and will forever impact the lives of these orphans.

HOW CAN I SUPPORT THIS PROGRAM?
Participation and any financial contribution will make this a successful program. The China Camp program is in
need of financial contributions totaling $30,000 to cover the travel, lodging, gifts for the children and orphanage
caregivers, and general camp expenses required in order to bring the children to Beijing. Adoptive families who
have completed post adoption supervision are welcome to provide financial support to the program. Adoption
Associates, Inc. is grateful for financial contributions of any amount. We appreciate your consideration in
sponsoring a portion or the full amount of the child’s camp tuition which is $1,000 per child. All contributions
will help us achieve our fundraising goal.
