Detailed Itinerary

Day One                                          New York/Beijing  
Meet your tour leader at the airport and depart for Beijing. Cross the International Date Line to the wonders of China. In-flight meals.

Day Two                                          Beijing      
We will be met by our local guide Jason or Wendy at the Beijing International Airport and transfer to our hotel.  The balanced of the day is at leisure.  Welcome Peking duck dinner at the newly opened Changan Restaurant. (D)

 

Day Three                                       Beijing
After breakfast, visit Tiananmen Square, which at 98 acres, is the largest public square in the world and site of many history-making events. Our kids will fly a kite on Tian’an men followed by walking tour of the impressive Forbidden City, the secluded and guarded home to the Emperors of China.
Afternoon, stroll around of BeiHai Park,  one of the oldest and most authentically preserved imperial gardens in China.  it is a popular place for local people to play chess, practice tai chi or sing Peking Opera.  This evening enjoy the famous acrobatic show. (B.L.)


Day Four                                         Beijing

Today's visit will be to the famous Beijing Zoo. The Beijing Zoo was originally an Imperial Park during the Ming Dynasty and in the late Qing period (1908). Now the Zoo covers over 50 hectares, with more than 600 species from all over China and other countries as well, including golden monkeys, Yangtze alligators, red crowned cranes, and tigers from the northeast of China. The star of the show will be the Giant Panda.  The best time to catch these lovable sleepyheads is in the morning. We will spend the morning at the Zoo and followed by a "back alleys" rickshaw Hutong tour of Chinese life at its most traditional and obtain a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse into the lifestyles of the local people. Day Five                                          Beijing/Xi’an
After breakfast at hotel, bus transfer to visit Great Wall at Mutianyu, one of history's most remarkable accomplishments that extends over 3,000 miles.  A walk along a section of this enormous wall is a not-to-be-missed experience. According to a famous Chinese saying, "One is not a real hero until one reaches the Great Wall."  In the evening, fly to Xi'an (the "City of Everlasting Peace"), one of the world's largest and grandest cities.  Xi'an was the capital of China for 11 dynasties, its zenith during the Tang Reign (618-917).  A highlight of our visit here will be to some of Asia's most significant archeological discoveries.  Xi’an Garden Hotel (B.L)

 
Day Six                                            Xi'an     
This morning we will visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda (a newly built square with Tangseng's statue - Monkey King's Master in the famous Chinese story "Journey to the West," and the big yard inside the temple are good for both adults and kids). The Shaanxi History Museum displays Tang style architecture in its many exhibition halls.  After lunch, tour the old City Wall with the South Gate Tower (showing the ancient military defense system and the only one of its kind in China). 
Enjoy an elegant and graceful Tang Dynasty Theater Performance in the evening.  (This show is a performance of Chang’an music and dances that originated over 1000 years ago.)    Xi’an Garden Hotel (B.L.)

Day Seven                                       Xi’an

A highlight of our visit this morning will be the extraordinary 2,300 year-old Terra Cotta Warriors of China's first emperor, Qinshihuang.  The warriors still stand on the actual site where peasants discovered them in 1974.  Later visit Shanxi Art and Clay factory to see how the Terra Cotta Warriors were made.  Afternoon we will arrive at a typical Chinese village. Through meeting the local village leader, visiting a local school and helping a farmer make soy milk, we will learn about village life so as to better understand the aspirations and life of the majority of China's people who live in rural areas. Evening is as leisure for your family to stroll around park near the hotel.  (B. L.)

 

Day Eight                                        Chengdu

Morning flight to Chengdu.  Chengdu was the capital city of the Kingdom of Shu (221-263). (Three Kingdoms) culture took strong root here. And here still exists some of the richest of the remains of the Three Kingdoms Period. Chengdu is now the capital of China's most populous province, Sichuan. Pleasantly laid out with broad streets lined by brown and white stucco traditional two-storied houses with balconies of carved wood, this dynamic and colorful city has famously extrovert population. Chengdu has been newly regarded as one of the ten most livable cities in China. Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel.  Remainder of the day is at leisure. (B.L)

Day Nine                                          Chengdu/Yaan
Morning visit
Shu Embroidery InstituteShu Embroidery is one of the four famous embroidery style in China.  It is known as the “treasure of Sichuan” since Han Dynasty. Observe the talented workers’ elegant demonstrations and fine artworks.  Take a stroll along the Jin Li Street -- The First Street of the Shu Kingdom and transfer you back to the ancient time.  Enjoy the culture and local specialties.  After lunch, drive to Yaan Panda Reserve.  On the way, stop over at local mountain village to enjoy natural surrounding of the area.  Hotel check in and evening is at leisure. Day Ten                                          Yaan/Chengdu

After breakfast at hotel, visit the Panda Center and Panda Museum, Which is a comprehensive state natural reserve of 200,000 hectares. It was one of the earliest research bases established in China and was placed on UNESCO Man and Biosphere Reserve Network in 1980. Sixty-seven pandas are among 150 pandas in Yaan Panda Reserve managed by the China Conservation and Research Center for the Giant Panda. Transfer back to Chengdu. (B.L)

 

Day Eleven                                      Capital City of Home Province

Morning flight to the capital city of your child’s orphanage province (please complete the attached orphanage visit form.)  Our local guide will meet you at the airport, transfer to your hotel and will accompany you throughout the visit to the orphanage.  (B)

 

Day Twelve                                     Orphanage visit

We will arrange for you to visit the orphanage city or foster family that you child lived in while in China.  It’s the most important day during your entire trip.  Your child will be able to see the place where she lived before.  It will also be a wonderful chance for the caregivers who took care of them to be able to see your child again.  (B)
